The excessive abdominal fat around your stomach and abdomen is called belly fat. But, you may not know that there is a strong connection between central obesity and cardiovascular disease.
There are two types of abdominal fat: visceral fat, also known as organ fat, which is the underlying deep fat packed in between internal organs and torso, opposed to the subcutaneous fat‚ found underneath the skin, and intramuscular fat‚ found interspersed in the skeletal muscle.
Central obesity is the term used for an excess of visceral fat, also known as, the “pot belly” or “beer belly” effect, in which the abdomen protrudes excessively. This body type is known as “apple shaped‚” opposed to the “pear shaped‚” where the fat is deposited on the hips and buttocks. Nowadays, nutritionists claim that the body fat, instead of body weight, is the key to evaluation obesity.
What is the easiest way to get rid of belly fat?
Take action. This is the first and probably most valuable thing you need to do. You’ll never accomplish your goals if you don’t start.
Drink ice cold water. It’s actually a cool trick that burns more calories as your body heats the water to body temperature. But, still, try not to overdo it!
Avoid stress. Increased stress can lead to higher cortisol levels even though we know it can be difficult to avoid it. Cortisol is the hormone which can prevent fat loss and put you in a catabolic state e.g. burning muscle.
Abdominal exercises are essential. It’s very important for your health and weight loss to keep your entire core strong. However, overemphasizing it will not burn anywhere near the same amount of calories as a larger muscle group can. Your body doesn’t burn fat around a specifically trained area (spot reduction), so you’ll need all the fat burning exercise you can get. Train your abs, but try to focus on the bigger muscles more!
